Twenty Twenty | The Highlights
Last year… remember that? It flew by, didn’t it. I can’t quite recall why or pinpoint anything specific, so let’s just refer to it as “THAT THING.”
Despite weddings being one of the hardest-hit industries, THAT THING didn’t stop everyone. And after hearing how devastating the year was for so many individuals, businesses, and creative industries, I feel incredibly lucky to have captured six weddings during 2020. Two couples managed to slip through just before everything changed, while the other four threw the rulebook out the window and went ahead with beautifully intimate micro weddings.
On paper, a “micro wedding” might sound like a smaller or lesser version of the traditional weddings we all know—but from what I witnessed, the reality couldn’t have been more different.
What I learnt last year is that small can feel incredibly big when you surround yourself with nothing but the crème de la crème. With fewer distractions, fewer expectations, and only the people who matter most, the emotion, connection, and atmosphere were turned up to eleven.
Don’t get me wrong—missing out on a four-mile conga line or cracking skulls in a mosh pit did have its drawbacks once the evenings rolled in. But when the love is there and the spirits are high, you already have everything you need.
So despite photographing just six weddings in 2020, I’m incredibly excited to share these highlights. A small but mighty collection of bright, joyful moments—proof of silver linings, resilience, and love winning, while ignoring THAT THINGfor a little while.
I can’t wait to return to some form of normality and dive headfirst into all the incredible weddings already in the diary for 2021, 2022, and 2023. My passion for this job will need to take a far bigger hit than THAT THING to shake my determination to be there for my couples and to keep growing, improving, and creating better work every year.
