Flipp’n heck! Yet again, an entire year seems to have passed in the blink of an eye. Another unforgettable wedding season, packed with incredible people, real emotions, and moments that flew by far too quickly. Twenty Nineteen picked me up, spat me out, shook me senseless—and somehow still managed to take me by surprise. A total whirlwind of romance and chaos. The perfect combination.
I really do have the best job.
As with every year I spend in this amazing industry, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some truly fantastic wedding suppliers from all over the land, alongside working once again with many familiar faces (you know who you are).
2019 was also my first full wedding season shooting with a mixed bag of camera gear. I finally made the leap into the world of Sony cameras, while still holding tight to my beloved Canon 5D Mark III.
My new Sony A7III has helped elevate my work in certain areas, and—if I’m honest—I’ve had an absolute blast tinkering with a new “toy” and exploring techniques I’d previously avoided. Moving forward, the challenge will be deciding whether to commit to one system or continue embracing a hybrid approach to my wedding photography.
Choosing my favourite images from so many incredible moments is always a challenge. Some photographs make the cut because of raw emotion or fleeting expressions. Others are all about timing, light, colour, or composition. And some earn their place simply because of how special that moment was, or the memory of sharing it with the people involved. More often than not, it’s a mix of all of the above.
I set out to show you my favourite 200 wedding photos of 2019… but after countless hours sifting through over 20,000 images, trimming the edges, and painfully letting go of some absolute beauties, I’m stuck on 225.
So this may take you a little while to scroll through—and there’s a small chance your internet router might explode—but don’t give up.
